Projects
Remember November 11 has different project areas that we are working on and they are all tied together to fulfill our mission.
Our mission is to Remember the Fallen, to Honour our Veterans and to teach our children about Canada's military history.
Stone Monuments, benches and gardens
The park has 17 large Stone monuments commemorating different moments in Canadian military history. There are commemorative benches and over 100 smaller stones memorializing different Veterans.
Traditional Remembrance Ceremonies
Remembrance Gardens hosts several ceremonies every year. We commemorate Vimy Ridge, Liberation of the Netherlands, D-Day, Korea Veterans Day, Peacekeeper Day, the Dieppe Raid and the Battle of Hong Kong, plus Remembrance Day.
Teaching our children
We encourage teachers and parents to bring children to the park. It's a great way to talk about Veterans and Remembrance Day. A teacher's guide is available from our website.
Honourthem.ca is very helpful when doing research
This site has an amazing database for researching anyone who served in the military.
Organization of historical information
This is a huge repository of individual military history that is searchable by historic event, military group, cemetery or even hometown.
Telling individual stories
This is a great way to learn about individuals or about military events. Teachers can print these pages out or have students look for certain information on the website.
Remembrance Day reception
On Remembrance Day we rent the hall that is right beside the Cenotaph and we have large displays about military events and provide a free luncheon for everyone in the Veterans parade.
Remembrance Ceremonies
We have several ceremonies each year, including Vimy Ridge, Liberation of the Netherlands, D-Day, Peacekeeper Day and Remembrance Day.
Exhibits and Ceremonies
We have exhibits and ceremonies at Cherry Hill Mall for seniors and learning exhibits with speakers for students.
History Displays about Canada
We have exhibits and speakers that will go to schools for Remembrance week activities.
Teaching Materials about Canada
We offer various teaching materials for different student levels. This includes overviews, individual stories and activities. Teaching guides will also be available.
Bootsteps in History
We have a few plays aimed at Secondary School students to teach about different conflicts. We have created them as radio plays that can be done with groups of students or a stage play that can be done by a whole class. Topics include the Dieppe Raid, the Korean War, World War I and Indigenous soldiers. We plan to add plays about the animals of War, the Afghanistan war and a World War II play called Army Navy Air Force which will depict what life was like in the different services.
